Landscaping isn’t just about plants and pathways—it’s about creating an outdoor space that reflects your personality and lifestyle. From the timeless elegance of formal gardens to the relaxed charm of cottage landscapes, the sleek lines of modern design to the natural beauty of wild, native plantings, there’s a style for everyone. But the best part? You don’t have to choose just one! Mix the structured beauty of Mediterranean gardens with the lush greenery of tropical retreats, or blend rustic elements with contemporary features for a look that’s uniquely yours. Your landscape should be as dynamic and creative as you are—so break the rules, mix and match, and design a space that truly feels like home.

Modern Contemporary

A modern or contemporary landscape design is all about clean lines, minimalist aesthetics, and a seamless blend of nature and structure. You’ll often find sleek hardscapes like concrete, steel, or smooth pavers paired with striking architectural plants such as ornamental grasses, agaves, or sculptural trees. Neutral color palettes, geometric patterns, and subtle lighting create a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere. Water features, fire pits, and statement planters add visual interest, while open spaces and functional layouts ensure a perfect balance between style and usability.

Traditional/Formal

These design concepts take advantage of geometric and symmetrical shapes.  You may find topiaries and hedges included in the layout.  Garden mazes and intricate hedge designs are also present in this concept.  Defined and specific focal points are conceptualized  throughout the yard.  Cutting beds, including roses,  and ornamental edibles are very popular.  Patios and pathways will use straight lines and defined curves to achieve your look.

Mediterranean

A fun favorite for the sunny, mild winter landscapes.  Mediterranean designs are a beautiful marriage of native plant material and natural stones or pavers.  Olives trees with sages and ornamental grasses are paired with warm and cool colors popping up throughout the seasons.  Patios and walkways enjoy naturally irregular patterns and the use of crushed granite is held in high regard.  Plant beds may be irregular in shape or take on a formal linear look.   A Mediterranean design is ready for all sun loving, outdoor living components such as arbors, fire pits, outdoor living rooms, bocce ball, outdoor kitchens, water features, seat walls and much, much more.

Drought Tolerant

Drought or high plains may be your xeriscaping ticket.  These plans take hardscaping to a very creative level.  Typically, sod is a bad word and lawns may replaced or obsolete.  Grand use of natural stones such as gravel, crushed granite, boulders or natural stones are pleasantly present.  Dry creek beds are most popular and can help with water shed when rain is gifted.  Low maintenance, low water, native shrubs and perennials are still smiled upon in small irregular beds or berms.  Meandering pathways and patios lend to a natural look complimenting the surrounding landscape.  Boulder fire pits and craftsman style arbors are a sure fit.

Tropical

Tropical landscape designs are best suited for hot or mild winter climates.  Tropical designs consist of voluptuous and healthy meandering plant beds, patios and walkways.  Blooming trees and shrubs are complemented by perennials that focus on showy foliage color.  Pools are very popular here, and will complement the irregular shapes of the hardscape around it.  Many pools will add features such as shallow sun shelf or baja shelf, where you may place chairs or chases in the water.  Bungalows and Tiki huts with thatched roofs add to the charms of the tropics.  You will also enjoy year round outdoor living with these concepts including outdoor kitchens and bars, fire pits, hammocks, large patios with numerous meandering walkways, private seating areas and boulder waterfalls.

Informal/Natural

This is also referred to as North Western landscaping.  In these designs you will see patios,  pathways and seat walls expressing a carefree meandering pose.  Arbors, fire pits, and outdoor kitchens are extremely popular.  Medium to large areas of natural sod are great places for families to play the day or night away.  Plant beds may be in irregular shapes and are filled with many native shrubs, perennials or annuals.  Natural flagstone, pavers or concrete patios are very popular in these concepts.Â
